About the Book: 

First of all, I’m so glad you’re here. If you’ve been following me on TikTok or Instagram, you’ve probably already heard me talking about Daughter of Origin borderline obsessively. If you’re brand-new here, welcome. You’ve got some catching up to do.

I’m L.L. Schmid, and Daughter of Origin is the first book in my seven-book romantasy series, The Origin Series.

And before you ask, yes, my main character really is a thirty-three year old mother of three, and dog mom to one. And yes, there’s romance. Quite a bit of it, actually... much to the genre's surprise.

Because somewhere along the way, romantasy seems to have decided that women have to be nineteen years old, childless, and completely inexperienced to get swept into a world of magic, powerful Fae, and extraordinary adventures.

And I had some thoughts about that.  Frankly, I got tired of aging myself down or aging the characters up in my head.

I wanted to read about a woman who was more like me... who’d already lived a life. Who’d made mistakes. Who’d been hurt, a lot. Who’d lost pieces of herself along the way. A woman who loved her children fiercely, but who was still a woman outside of being their mother. Because motherhood shouldn’t be where a woman’s story ends.

So,  that’s where Aelyra’s begins.

She’s a former Kingsguard who’s spent thirteen years surviving a marriage that cost her everything she once was. When she finally flees with her three children and her dog, she finds herself crossing into a Fae realm she didn’t expect to encounter.

And on the other side?

A five-hundred-year-old male with a  questionable past, a collection of equally complicated people, and an entire world of danger.

There’s political intrigue, ancient magic, slow-burn romance, friendships, humor, heartbreak, and a found family that I sincerely hope you’ll love as much as I do.
